Today, an accessible walking and cycle path runs through the reserve and links directly into the nearby Cookworthy Forest, making it perfect for countryside walks, cycling, dog walking, and exploring the local area.
Along the old woodland edges you will discover goat willow, ferns, and broadleaved helleborines, whilst wildlife lovers may spot green woodpeckers and seasonal warblers during the spring and summer months.
Halwill Junction is also a wonderful place for butterfly lovers, particularly the delicate wood white butterfly, often seen gently fluttering along the edges of the cycle paths during warmer months.
