Dating back to the 1800s, Lower Winsford Farm began life as a traditional Devon farmstead, nestled amongst rolling countryside, woodland and peaceful lakeside surroundings in the heart of rural Devon.
Over more than 20 years, the farm was lovingly restored by John and Anne Russell, who transformed it into a beautiful countryside retreat. Their vision created welcoming holiday cottages set within nearly 20 acres of woodland, paddocks, gardens and a tranquil lake, providing guests with a place to relax, explore and reconnect with nature.
After a period of retirement, Lower Winsford Farm is now beginning an exciting new chapter.
Today, the farm is proudly owned and run by Angela, Michael and family, who are continuing the vision of creating peaceful countryside escapes on the Devon and Cornwall border. Our cosy, dog-friendly holiday cottages offer guests the opportunity to slow down, unwind and experience the simple beauty of Devon life. With a private fishing lake, abundant wildlife and beautiful surroundings, Lower Winsford Farm provides the perfect base for romantic breaks, family holidays, fishing trips and countryside getaways.
Situated in the charming village of Halwill Junction, Lower Winsford Farm enjoys an ideal location for exploring both Devon and Cornwall. For Angela and Michael, Lower Winsford Farm represents the fulfilment of a lifelong dream.
Originally from Berkshire, they had always imagined one day moving to Devon and creating a lifestyle centred around family, nature and countryside living. It was a dream also shared by Angela’s parents, Andrew and Kathleen. Following Kathleen’s sad passing in 2023, Angela made a promise that the dream they had spoken about for so many years would still become reality.
After years of searching, they finally found that dream at Lower Winsford Farm.
Today, Lower Winsford Farm is a true family business, run by Angela, Michael, their children Isabelle, Maisie and Lilith, and Angela’s dad, Andrew. Together, they are creating a warm and welcoming countryside retreat where guests can relax, recharge and create lasting memories surrounded by the beauty of Devon’s countryside.
