Experience the tranquility and exclusivity of our private pleasure fishing lake
Our beautiful private fishing lake was created over 25 years ago and, until recently, had never been fished. This means every visit to the water still brings new surprises, and we are continually discovering more about the wonderful stock that calls the lake home.
So far, we have been delighted to uncover several stunning Ghost Carp and Mirror Carp exceeding 20lb, alongside beautiful Common Carp reaching around 12lb. The lake is also home to Roach, Perch, and Rudd. As we continue to learn more about the lake and its inhabitants, we plan to carefully increase the stock during the autumn months to further enhance the fishing experience whilst maintaining the lake’s natural balance.
Unlike commercial fisheries, our lake is not open to the public. It is reserved exclusively for guests staying at Lower Winsford Farm, providing a peaceful and uncrowded setting where you can relax, enjoy nature, and experience the simple pleasure of fishing in beautiful surroundings.
For those who prefer to simply sit and take in the scenery, our lakeside pergola offers the perfect place to watch the wildlife, listen to birdsong, and enjoy the tranquillity of the countryside.

One of the joys of staying at Lower Winsford Farm is having the opportunity to try something new. If you’ve never picked up a fishing rod before, don’t worry — everyone starts somewhere.
Michael has a small selection of spare fishing rods available and, if time allows, would be more than happy to show you the ropes and help you get started. Whether it’s learning how to cast, bait a hook, or safely return a fish to the water, he can help make your first fishing experience enjoyable and memorable.
There’s nothing quite like the excitement of feeling your first bite or landing your very first fish, all whilst surrounded by the peace and tranquillity of the Devon countryside.
