One of the things we love most about life at Lower Winsford Farm is never quite knowing what wildlife we might spot when we wake up each morning.

This morning, we were treated to a visit from one of our regular early morning guests – a beautiful deer who wandered into view and spent a few moments quietly observing the farm dogs. Equally curious, the dogs stood watching in return as the deer calmly assessed the morning’s activities from a safe distance.

For a short while, there was a peaceful standoff between wildlife and wagging tails before the deer gracefully sprang away and disappeared into the woodland, as if it had never been there at all.

Although the farm is surrounded by deer fencing, a small family of deer has very much adopted Lower Winsford Farm as part of their territory. We regularly catch glimpses of them moving through the woodland, grazing in the fields, or appearing unexpectedly during an early morning walk. Watching them has quickly become one of our favourite parts of living here.

We are also incredibly fortunate to occasionally see something even more special. From time to time, a rare white deer visits the farm, often accompanied by a magnificent white stag. These beautiful animals are a truly breathtaking sight and have been spotted near Kathy’s Corner, where our alpacas spend their days grazing.

Seeing wildlife thrive around the farm is one of the many reasons we fell in love with this special place. Whether it’s deer wandering through the fields, birds of prey soaring overhead, our resident barn owl hunting at dusk, or the countless other creatures that call the countryside home, nature is never far away at Lower Winsford Farm.

Moments like these remind us to slow down, take a breath, and appreciate the beauty that surrounds us every day.

We have a feeling our early morning visitor will be back again soon.
